Our Story

Gitana began with the goal of providing core Content Management features. Delivered as a service, the founders wanted to provide all of the robust capabilities of an enterprise platform. Only they wanted it to be well-designed and at a much lower price point.

The goal was to deliver a product that was sound. It really worked. No sales. No pitches. With excellent customer support and simple pricing, customers could grow their investment as the size of their projects grew.

In 2010, we looked around and realized that everything would change. Newcomers like Amazon, MongoDB and Elastic Search provided distributed software that enabled a company like ours to deliver reliable content management software as a service.

Today, companies all over the world use Gitana to provide the content backend for their applications. From creative agencies to consultancies and small businesses to enterprise accounts, our customers benefit from the fact that Gitana was built from the ground up just for them.


Financials

Gitana is privately owned and profitable and has no debt. We built our product one customer at a time by working closely and listening to each customer's feedback. We continue to carefully reinvest back into Gitana for the continued growth of the Company and the product.

At this stage in our companies growth, we are not looking for external funding or investment.

Leadership Team

Malcolm's experience in building teams and his focus on the customer has resulted in his companies having a highly respected reputation with clients, together with a dynamic and rewarding company culture.

Malcolm was the founder and CEO of Rothbury Software, a growing and successful consulting company specializing in delivering CMS solutions with Alfresco. The goal of Rothbury was to deliver quality consulting with a strong customer and team focus. Malcolm sold Rothbury Software to Ixxus in 2012 where he then joined the board and continued to grow Ixxus as the CEO (US).

Malcolm has a BSc Computer Science from Newcastle Upon Tyne University.

Michael is a veteran of the Enterprise Content Management industry who has worked with numerous Fortune 500 clients through successful CMS implementations over the past two decades. He's an open source contributor and has led technical innovations at such companies as Trilogy Software, Epicentric, Vignette and Alfresco.

Michael founded Gitana in 2010 with the goal of building a business that delivered authentic quality at a low cost. Unlike legacy enterprise software, Gitana aspires to deliver enterprise features at a price point that empowers small businesses, digital agencies and consultancies.

Michael graduated with a BS and M.Eng in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Michael is a Full Stack Software engineer who previously worked at GoDaddy and US Bank. He works across many aspects of Gitana's products and services, working directly with customers to address their needs and also developing new features and solutions. He continues to work on expanding the platform in exciting new ways such as enhancing its AI capabilities.

Michael has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Engineering.
